TRACY MAIN PHOTOGRAPHY Is runner up in the Guild of Photographers Founders cup award.
Local Photographer Tracy Main from Tracy main Photography has gained international recognition by winning a significant award with the Guild of (Professional) Photographers.
The Guild is the highly regarded national photographic body whose members are dedicated to
enhancing their skills in the art, craft and profession of photography.
In 2018, The Guild has launched a competition called The Founders Cup, in memory of Roy Doorbar and Ian Gee. Doorbar and Gee created The Guild of Wedding Photographers in 1988, which over time has grown to become The Guild of Photographers. They sadly passed away in late 2016 and the ‘Founders Cup’ is a new prestigious photography award which acknowledges what Roy and Ian started, and their aims to encourage photographers to take those initial steps to push themselves.
Entrants from photographers in the UK and overseas were required to submit a 3 image panel or
portfolio with a link or theme, and only entrants who have never previously won any
regional/national or international photography competition are eligible to apply.
These portfolios are shortlisted for the final, at which point print copies of the panels are
requested. In December, a panel judges them to determine the top 10, with the winner announced
the following February.
Tracy Main was honoured to become the Runner-Up in the ‘Founders Cup’ - a remarkable achievement when one considers the number and standard of the entries.
Their Award was presented to them at the Guild's Awards night at Crewe Hall (a stunning Jacobean mansion in Cheshire), earlier this week.
Lesley Thirsk (Director of the Guild) said – She is “both proud and delighted that Tracy has achieved this recognition, and that they have taken their first step into a promising future in photographic competitions”.
The Guild has very demanding standards when judging photographic competitions. The judging is
undertaken by a panel of internationally recognised experts from a variety of photographic
backgrounds, so Tracy quite rightly should be delighted with their extraordinary achievement’
Members of the Guild are committed to achieving the highest standards of professionalism and to a journey of continuing professional development.
