What better way to celebrate your baby’s First, Second, Third or even 50th birthday (Adults can have cake smash shoots too!) than to have a Cake Smash and Splash photoshoot.

These special, fun photoshoots are actually three photoshoots in one! In my studio in South Ockendon I will start off with a mini photoshoot in an outfit of your choice. I do have outfits available as well. I then change the scene and set up for the cake smash. I have lots of cake smash outfits so you don’t get your babies outfits messy. The colour scheme and theme is chosen at the time of booking. I am open to any suggestions and will try my upmost to provide a set tailored exclusively for your chid. I can provide the cake made by a local cake maker or you can bring your own as long as it ties in with the colour scheme of the shoot. I will capture the child’s excitement and joy as they explore their special birthday cake. It is often a good idea before the session to get your child used to experiencing the messy cake and icing feel as sometimes they don’t like the texture and feel of it. In this case we can use something different for the shoot.

These special occasions are three photoshoots in one. Have a photoshoot of your baby in an outfit of your choice, smash a cake and then have some photographs taken in a baby tub, while they enjoy the bubbles.

After the cake smash and baby is all messy I change the set for a fun Splash Session in my roll top free standing bath tub full of bubbles, and of course rubber ducks! I have a vast variety of props available and balloons and bunting are included in the Cake Smash photoshoot.
If you have missed your baby’s 1st birthday it is not a problem as I can do these type of photoshoots several months after their birthday.
If you don’t want the full smash and splash you can tailor the shoot to your requirements.

Booking information

I do get booked up several months in advance so contact me as early as possible to get your cake smash and splash shoot booked in. Ideally a few months before your child’s birthday so you are not disappointed. If you don’t want the cake smash or the splash part of the session I am flexible and can do a themed birthday shoot without the cake or bath. When booking let me know if you require me to provide the cake. I do use a local cake maker and can accommodate most themes. A standard giant cupcake, round ombree cake or semi naked cake are all included in the £35.00 price. If you want any different themed style of cake I can provide you with a quote. Let me know if anyone has any allergies when booking.

A beautiful slideshow will be created to showcase your images

I have a vast variety of props, backdrops, outfits headbands, hats etc., that will be available for your session. If there is any particular colour scheme or setup that you would like me to use then please let me know before the session.

Generally your images will be ready to view in approx 3 – 4 weeks .  Usually between 20 – 30 (sometimes more) high quality fully edited images will be shown in person at your  viewing and ordering session.  A beautiful slideshow will be created to showcase your images. Here you can choose what collection you require and order any wall art or albums. I only use professional photographic labs available only to photographers to produce the high quality images or products ordered.

Pricing

Due to the fact I need to order your cake prior to the session, I require a £99  booking fee to secure your booking. This will be deducted from your final order.

You can choose to bring your own cake or I can provide it for £35.00 (gluten egg and dairy free cakes available as well)

You do not need to choose what collection to go for until after you have viewed your images 2 – 3 weeks after the shoot date. You can choose to purchase prints or products instead of a collection or opt for a collection and wall art. I do have a minimum spend of £249.00 for a cake smash so on the day of the shoot itself £150.00 is payable . After viewing the images you can opt to stick with the £249.00 collection, order other products or choose a higher collection.

FAQs

How long does a cake smash session last?
I allow an hour for a cake smash shoot but this is not set in stone. Sometimes I can get all the images I need in 45 mins other times it might take a bit longer for the baby to warm up and settle in so the session can be one hour 15 mins. I find that you have to work quickly with babies of this age as they tire and can get fed up very quickly.
How many outfit changes can I have in a cake smash session?
Normally one outfit for the mini portrait session, and another outfit for the cake smash part. Sometimes people have another change of clothes i.e traditional costume. I will accommodate this as long as the baby is happy. I do find the more the baby gets changed the grumpier they get.
Do you provide cake smash outfits?
Yes I hold a large selection of cake smash outfits. These can be chosen on the day of the shoot or you can let me know if you have seen an outfit I have used before to make sure I have it ready for your session.
Can I choose several themes in a cake smash session?
Yes and No. Normally the session has one theme for the mini portrait and then a slightly different one for the cake smash the bath can be on a different set up as well. If the scene chosen is a very complex one like the jungle scene the mini portrait needs to be done on this set up as well as it is not practical to set it all up whilst the baby is waiting as they will get tired and fed up and we will lose good quality picture time.
Can we use props?
Yes I have so many props readily available to use in all my sessions. Just give me notice what props you like well before the session so I can let you know if I have it or not.
When will my images be ready?
At certain times of the year I am busier than others the typical time for the gallery to be ready to view is 3-4 weeks. I do aim to be quicker if I can
I Live a long way away. I don’t want to come back for a viewing session?
During Covid and for clients that live a long way away I have been offering zoom viewing sessions. These however are at a last resort as you can’t get to see your images as they should be viewed and you can’t appreciate the products in the same way.
Can siblings be included in the cake smash shoot?
Yes I like siblings to be included. It does depend on the age and how many siblings there are as to how feasible it is but this will be discussed in your booking.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes of course. I would not want you to miss out on this most important stage of a baby’s life due to financial reasons. For more information on payment plans feel free to contact me via the contact page .
Can spectators watch?
As my studio is not very big I normally suggest only the parents and one other are permitted . Due to Covid at the moment it is only parents allowed and no spectators.
What Covid precautions do you have in place?
I follow all government guidelines on social distancing. Hand sanitisers are provided on entry to the studio. Face Masks must be worn while not being photographed. Shoes removed on entry to the studio. No spectators allowed. I am also asking adults to take a lateral flow test the morning of the shoot.
Can I bring my own cake?
Yes of course you can just make sure it ties in with the theme or colour scheme you have chosen for the cake smash
I don’t want to have the bath splash!
That is totally fine if you don’t want to have the bath splash I can take a few more extra pictures on a different backdrop
